Bathtub liners Bathtub liners are molded replicas that cover the old tub floor and walls providing a quick fix to a nasty old tub. Liners also have the benefit of being able to protect your tub against moisture such as rust or water damage. In addition, even though they are an add-on, they are very durable and stand up to harsh cleaning solutions. The restoration process Our professional use a special formula to refinish tubs in two steps. This enable us to remove mineral deposits, soap scum and other stains. After these stains are removed, our professionals go to work to begin repairing any cracks or chips in the floors or walls of the tub. The refinishing is topped off with a fine finishing spray that creates a durable acrylic coating for your tub. It will look shiny and new again! Reglazing your tub. The reglazing process starts by sanding the first couple layers of the tub’s old surface. Then the worn areas such as chips or cracks will be bonded and filled. Then primer is applied followed by paint and finally a final buffing. Reglazing is a somewhat simpler process and it may not be as durable as using a liner but it does afford you the opportunity to choose from a number of different colors that Boynton Kitchen & Bath has to offer. Refinish vs. Replacing. If you’re stuck trying to decide if you should replace your tub, reglaze it or maybe even do a tub to shower conversion, you’re probably looking at the price points of each. Refinishing is less intensive and comes with a much lower price tag compared to replacing your tub or doing a tub to shower conversion. If you think you need a bathtub (such as if you have small children or you just enjoy a nice bath once in a while) then you probably don’t want to do a conversion but rather a replacement. Refinishing is the fastest, cheapest and most painless of the three options. If you would like to discuss your options further, please don’t hesitate to give Boynton Kitchen & Bath a call! |
